About JoyGrip
The Product
After several years of development we believe to finally offer a wooden bicycle grip that checks all the boxes:
Design
- A simple design with a fusiform (spindle) shape that is thicker in the center and tapers off towards the ends, which
- follows the natural shape of the hand and supports it,
- improves lateral (side-to-side) support for a safer grip,
- improves dampening and shock absorption through a thicker layer of wood.
Simplicity
We make one product and we optimized it. If you need a shorter grip to accommodate a gear shift, you could saw off a part of the grip. Due to the variety of gear shifts, we don't make grips of different lengths.
Teak
-
Natural reclaimed aged teak wood that has a unique, smooth and soft, feel, and is also:
- grippy when wet,
- cool in hot weather, warm in cold weather,
- unlaquered, weather sealed with teak sealer.
-
Simple installation: Standard fabric tape and hot glue fix the grip. A standard brake wire is pulled through the handlebar and fixed at both sides for extra safety. The grip can be easily removed and re-installed (with a new standard brake wire).
The Makers
We are a multi-national family of five living in central Chiang Mai Thailand. Our products are made from reclaimed teak blanks that are produced in specialized factories. These blanks we make into bicycle grips through drilling, sanding, sealing and further finishing steps.
